The Board

Tony Webber 

Prof Tony (AJ) Webber – Executive Chairman

Tony brings over 40 years of academic and commercial experience to CNS which he established in 1998 after leaving his position as Dean of Health & Science at Queensland University of Technology. In this position (1980 to 1996) Tony was instrumental in the spinout of intellectual property into Australia's emerging Biotechnology industry. Tony has continued to promote Australia's unique advantages internationally with CNS being the first private Australian CRO to exhibit at many of the US and European summer conferences. Tony's inexhaustible energy in promoting Queensland was recognised in 2009 as the inaugural recipient of Queensland Life Sciences Industry Excellence Award. Tony has also been the President of the Queensland Clinical Trial Network (QCTN) since its inception and more recently oversaw evolution of QCTN into LifeScience Queensland (LSQ).

 Russell Neal

Russell Neal – Managing Director

Russell has been consulting to both Pharma and small Biotech clients on product development strategies and regional trial management for over 27 years’. Initially as a CRA/PM in the UK, Russell moved with Quintiles to Sydney before relocating to Singapore in 1999 as PM/Regional Training Manager. In 2002, Russell returned to Australia joining CNS in early 2003.

 Garielle McKee

Gabrielle McKee – Chief Operating Officer & Executive Director

With over 25 years’ experience in pharmacovigilance roles in the pharmaceutical industry and managing clinical teams and projects at international CROs and local Biotech companies, Gabby offers both clients and CNS' own team her unique insight into clinical research management. Having initially joined CNS in 2003, then returning in 2006, Gabby now leads the Clinical Operations and Biometrics teams, providing extensive support as CNS’ Chief Operating Officer.

In addition to Tony, Russ & Gabby, CNS boasts a remarkably experienced Senior Management Team who work together to maintain CNS’ unique culture, a stimulating and rewarding work environment, whilst ensuring that CNS provides clients with the very best advice, solution service levels and program outcomes.

Peter Apon 

Peter Apon- Director, Human Resources

Peter leads the HR-function at CNS. Prior to joining CNS in June 2014, he built his capabilities across every dimension of the human resources function over the last 25 years in a wide range of industries (including pharmaceutical) in Europe, the USA and Australia in either HR-leadership positions or as an independent HR consultant. He holds tertiary qualifications in Human Resources Management (BA) and Law (LLM) and is a member of the Australian HR Institute (registered as CAHRI).

David Bradshaw Aug16

David Bradshaw - Business Director, CNS USA

David joined CNS in 2016 and has responsibility for operations of the USA office. He has over 20 years' experience in the biotech/ pharmaceutical industry, with senior roles in Contract Manufacturing, Business Development and Program Management. David has spent the last 7 years with companies involved in US Federal Government contracting, hence he has a deep understanding of the intricacies of government contracting processes. In other recent roles, David was involved in the product development of two infectious disease products relating to malaria. David has a BSc degree from the University of Maryland in Biological Sciences, majoring in Microbiology.  

 Paul Cronin

Paul Cronin - Director, CNS UK

Paul is a Director at Clinical Network Services (UK) and has overall responsibility for its day to day operations. As well as heading CNS’ global business development team, Paul is also a member of CNS’ BioDesk leadership team and is an active member of CNS’ Senior Management Team (SMT). Paul has over 10 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry holding senior positions at a variety of regulatory and clinical research companies. Paul started his pharmaceutical career as a Regulatory Affairs Consultant, thereafter was responsible for growing global business activities and evolving the business into a leading international regulatory consultancy. Paul has degrees in biochemistry and international business and management.

 Hanna DeVries

Hanna De Vries – Director, Finance

Hanna is responsible for day to day operations within CNS’ finance team and provides financial guidance to CNS senior management and divisional managers working closely with Trent, CNS CFO. Hanna has worked in various financial roles for more than 25 years and owning her own consultancy business before joining CNS in 2007.

 Otto Damsma

Otto Damsma – Director, Biometrics

Otto is Director of Biometrics, encompassing clinical data management, PK/PD analysis and modelling, clinical programming and biostatistics. Otto has been active in various roles in preclinical and clinical drug development, including being the Director of Biometrics for many years at a multinational pharmaceutical company as well as Director of IT. Otto has been involved in preclinical and clinical studies across a wide range of therapeutic areas, in the implementation of R&D quality systems, computer system validation practices, information systems and outsourcing projects.

 Susan Jones

Susan Jones – Director, Quality Assurance

CNS QA dept is led by Susan Jones.  Having worked in Europe, North America and Australasia in both clinical operations and quality roles, Susan brings a breadth of more than 20 years GxP experience and a practical approach to Quality. As Director QA, Susan manages the quality team and develops solutions in response to Clients’ needs.

 Fiona Mackay

Fiona Mackay – Senior Director, Clinical Operations

Fiona joined CNS in December 2012 having worked in New Zealand in various clinical research positions for both large and small CROs and Pharmaceutical companies since 2001. Prior to this she worked in the UK in clinical research in both academic and industry roles. Fiona brings a wide range of clinical experience including operational management across a broad range of therapies, roles and phases of clinical trials.

Louise Moore CNS BioDesk

Louise Moore – Director, BioDesk Australia

Louise is the Director of BioDesk Australia and has been with CNS for over eight years. Louise has more than 20 years’ experience in regulatory affairs and medical writing including nine years working for multinational pharma companies based in the UK and five years in a small Australian biotech, all involving liaison with US, European and Australian regulatory authorities.

 Trent Todd

Trent Todd - Chief Financial Officer

Prior to joining CNS, Trent’s professional career has been focused on delivering valuable business and process improvement services to a broad range of medium sized companies, including working in advisory at PwC and also owning his own consulting business. Trent holds tertiary qualifications in Commerce majoring in Accounting (Bcomm) and also a Chartered Account (CA).
